✨ Plans Change: A Lesson in Grace ✨

Over the last four-ish months, while traveling and now that I'm back, I’ve been developing and promoting my Change Reflection Series—a space for the heart and mind to connect. After all, change happens in the heart just as much as in the mind, if not more. ❤️🧠
What Was Planned... and What’s Changing
Today and for the next three weeks you would have received your daily videos.
They would have covered Weeks 8 and 9 where we explore overcoming internal and external barriers, with reflection questions to help navigate those challenges.
Then, in Week 10, we would have wrapped up with reflections on challenging conversations, embracing grief, and creating sustainable change.
But… there won't be daily videos. 🎥
Because in the spirit of Newness (my word for the year), I’m embracing grace and learning instead.
The good news? You can take all the time you need to reflect at your own pace.
The articles with reflection questions are here:
🎬 The Story
While traveling in Chiang Mai 🇹🇭, I attended a fantastic talk by Yasir Khan, hosted by the ICF SF Bay Area chapter, on building a business using social media. I won’t summarize the entire talk, but my biggest takeaway?
👉 Leverage video.
Sounds simple, right?
Except… unlike my stuntman/actor son, I’ve never been comfortable on camera. 🎥😅
I knew nothing about self-taping or editing, and I was traveling for 4.5 months with only a 15kg backpack—which for sure didn't contain fancy equipment.
But the advice was solid, so I dove in.
✨ I got comfortable (well, more comfortable) in front of a camera.
✨ I scouted backgrounds, lighting, and used wine bottles 🍾 as makeshift tripods in my various accommodations all over the world
✨ I discovered Zoom virtual backgrounds (a game-changer when faced with an all-green wall! 💚).
✨ I learned iMovie and Canva.
✨ I wrote, memorized, recorded, and edited for hours.
✨ I finally got a real tripod (goodbye, wine bottle props! 🍾😂).
✨ My genius son introduced me to a teleprompter—which made everything so much easier.
Now that I’m back home, my video struggles should be over, right?
Wrong. 🤦♀️
I encountered an unbearable AV lag in my Zoom recordings. I scoured my house for a well-lit, glare-free background (glasses problems, anyone? 🤓💡). Nothing worked.
The Big Decision: Grace Over Finishing
So here I am, doing something that goes against every fiber of my being: I’m not finishing something I started.
And you know what? That’s okay.
This journey reminded me that change isn’t about rigidly sticking to a plan—it’s about adapting, learning, and allowing space for grace.
Sometimes, moving forward means letting go of what’s not working and choosing a new path instead.
It’s not always easy to share when things don’t go as planned, but I’m doing it because maybe, just maybe, it helps someone else. Just like Frankie Berkoben’s post about her talk not being accepted helped me. 🔗 Frankie’s post
Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs come when we give ourselves grace. 💛
💬 How can I help you?
Change can be messy, unpredictable, and deeply personal. Whether you're in the middle of a change or preparing for one ahead, you don’t have to navigate it alone, let’s connect!
